I've set up #Bitchat on my phone and got another friend to do the same. Both are Android.
We've both messed around with the app, tried toggling Bluetooth on and off, etc.
Unfortunately, neither of us can see the other. Any recommendations for fixing this? Or any ideas of what we overlooked?

it might be silly to ask, but how (physically) close are you?
BLE's range can vary between device type
Half a meter, at most
hmm, you should be _well_ in range
another troubleshooting step i reccomend is reinstalling the app
as well as making sure you both have the same version
Good idea. I ended up uninstalling my version (from Zapstore) and reinstalling from the Github directly (as the other person had done via Obtainium).
Unfortunately, it had the same result. I'm a bit lost as to what to do now.

i would verify that both devices bluetooth work (with a speaker or something)
check one last time that permissions were granted properly
and then maybe go file a bug report, at this point it's very unlikely to be user error
maybe a device incompatibility or something
Bluetooth definitely works on both.
My phone is ancient though, so I'm about to switch to a new Pixel with GrapheneOS. I'll have to try Bitchat out again next time once I'm back up an running with my new phone.
Many thanks for all your suggestions!
good luck! 💜🫂
grapheneos strong choice 💪
I assume you tried rebooting both phones?
Of course.
Just got it working on my new Graphene phone though. I think the problem was my old piece of garbage device.
