Exactly, I think it's because the pressure is and will always be much less present because there's no censorship. In other words, if we're already annoyed by whatever happened and we want to share it but then there's this annoying platform that censors us, it's like, why oh why. I think it just reduces the whole pressure of the whole thing, dramatically, because if you truly get it, you know it's forever. And that changes the mindset.

Great post and great comment. @CitizenPedro Another take: Being nice often plays out in discussing mostly Fiat approved topics. Collectively we are still tip toeing around trying to figure out what to do with free speech online. Some of us are like those cows when they first see grass. For others this freedom is so foreign and scary they act as a lost dog snapping at the helping hand.

clearly you haven't read any of my content ... jokes aside politeness comes from fear ... there is no fear in a moderated community but there is fear in a space without rules ... in an anarchist environment like NOSTR warlords like myself emerge who can and do say whatever they want ... while most everybody else is super nice and just hope i don't notice them

Reddit is also mostly bots, and the people there are also indistinguishable from bots. That's all social media man, the Sybil problem is the ultimate cause and this phenomenon cannot be stopped until someone finds a good solution to that problem.

We haven’t had our eternal September moment of adoption yet. We are currently a smaller community that wants nostr to succeed. Once it does succeed, then the quality will go down.

i think too since the main way to increase your social graph is by individuals following you, you have an incentive to not be mean and get blocked. it takes time to build up follows, so that also incentivizes people to not 'shit in their kennel' as you say 🙂🤙
