I've been slumping on my fitness this past month. It got cold, so I stopped my daily biking. Then I got sick, so I wasn't hitting my basement gym either. Then even when I recovered I just wasn't doing it. Best I was doing was walking outside to get some sun and fresh air. Yesterday I got back in. Stretches, push-ups, squats, bag-punching, deadlifts, dumbbell routines, and a few treadmill sprints. I'm super sore today, and my cardio is shit at the moment, but it feels great. If you've been slumping a bit this winter, I'm right there with you! Use today as a catalyst to get back in. You'll be glad you did.

Feel that. It's why so many resolutions are made. Time change, weather change, holiday celebrations all at once. Easy to let it slip.

It's genuinely amazing how fast the body acclimates to doing nothing, then tells you to fuck yourself when you want to dare put it to work again. And by "amazing" I mean "terrifying."

This winter slump is like Bitcoin, every dip is just an opportunity to rebalance πŸ’ͺ⛓️ Even when the network slows and blocks take longer, it comes back with consensus and stability. You restarted today, consider your effort and energy a confirmed transaction in the ledger of life. The gains will come πŸ”₯

Something I think about a lot: the body adapts to every stimulus and environment. Couch sitters are better at sitting on the couch than athletes. Muscle mass and bone density are metabolically expensive to maintain so if you sit on the couch too much, the body will begin to eliminate your hard earned strength and replace it with flabby tissue that is β€œgood” at hanging around idle (and bad at everything else).
Also, if you need a fresh start and a good impulse, buy new shoes, shorts, or read a quick book about health / exercise. This usually kick starts me when I need.

Hardest part is just getting dressed and going there
Same. Finally got back into it yesterday. These 15 hour work days are completely exhausting so getting back into some sort of fitness routine during the Christmas break is paramount πŸ’ͺ🏾

Way to go Lyn! Thanks for the encouraging words. I think fitness habits are like stacking sats: even small amounts are better than nothing and they can make a significant difference in the long run.
