I understand spam can’t be stopped. It doesn’t bother me at all. The object of the question remains, as you say, “less worse usage.” Articulate in the affirmative what that means? What good comes from blowing out the op-return?

It means you get harmless prunable outputs instead of shit that looks like a real output but is just junk that bloats the UTXO set (which has more resource usage than a prunable output).
