I basically combined describing a Ponzi scheme and a pyramid scheme, but it clicked for them when I said you need new participants to pay out the first participants. I told them to look up “Charles Ponzi.”
As in someone from the IRS that does audits, or as in someone who is auditing the IRS? I'm so glad I have to ask this distinction...
