My new take on the sats vs bitcoin debate. What if we just call it “B”. Literally the sound /b/ Square's marketing shows the ₿ symbol in their POS systems and it looks clean. But calling 25,000 sats “bitcoin” is confusing. Most people still hear “bitcoin” and think full coins. That disconnect creates friction. “Sats” doesn’t help either. It pulls away from the mainstream bitcoin brand makes it harder than it needs to for newcomers. So why not “25,000 B” when talking and when written ₿25,000? One syllable. Lines up with Bitcoin branding. Easy to say and easy to write. We just use the ₿ when written. I started intuitively doing this while writing about Lightning and started thinking in B. It makes sense. Still pretty new here, so tagging a few people so this gets seen. Curious what people think. there are many languages worldwide, each zone will use its own slang. In my own country we use informal/slang for euro. ofc other EU contries dont know about it. All you can do is try to set the formal designation and for that i think satoshis or sats its the best, the symbol can still be the Bitcoin B.
