bip110 had noble intentions and arbitrary data storage is/can still be a problem mostly because of the discount. I also think Core is rotten and the cure for that is running other implementation. It was clear from the start bip110 activating was unlikely, the fact that it did not doesn't mean bitcoin is captured, it simply did not have enough consensus. Luke wanting an HF is very sus, looks like he wants to make up for his lost coins, also how would that chain act if facing a similar situation? Another HF called by Luke? Bitcoin has problems, starting a clone does not solve the problems. Run alternative implementations, build circular bitcoin economies, get a bit of hashrate.

what bip110 showed it's that we need to decentralized the economic power by creating circular economies, and we need to decentralize mining, plebs must start owning the majority of the hashrate. Currently the plebs probably loose on both ends, hashrate are suits majority and economic power(nodes) the same, this isn't about 110, it's that any SF that we don't want or even an HF we might not win.
The worst imo was all the larp when the whole dev team was one guy and his alter ego and no good sw practices at all.
Gonna tell my kids doc_hex was Satoshi.
"runs" it's the new "steady lads..."
Keep in mind that just because you are a maxi who self custodies, and consumes all the btc content, doesn't automatically makes you an expert about securing your family and friends btc, you are just passing information that you learned from the community, if even btc OGs and coders got blindsided by this, how can you assure your family and friend that your setup for them is solid? Just be transparent about what you know, the options, the pros and cons of self custody and let people choose their path. Not everyone is revolution material.
Bitcoiners now texting their normie friend that they got into Bitcoin and self custody to help the revolution, that they need to buy casino grade dices write 0 and 1s in a completely airgapped device with immutable Linux distro to calculate the seed words, add a passphrase, do this 3 times for a multisig back all up and distribute them geographically, if the normie complains tell him that if he could manage to learn to drive he got this, if along the way somehow he lost the coins at least he died on the hill we wanted it was like a true bitcoiners and it was for the greater good.
Since anyone can do the same hack, people could try to hack before the bad guys to keep the funds safe and return them to the owners.
I stopped advising people to self custody, it's a lot of responsibility, if something happens to their funds its on you, what i do is just explain the options and tradeoffs. Self custody is hard, don't try to fool people, for most people having the coins on an exchange is still the best option.
Looks like we just had our bear market personality sacrifice.
we need better tools to self custody. Things like op_vault maybe could help, maybe covenants idk.
Make legacy bitcoin payments great again, pre segwit, pay full price, take more block space by tx, blocks will be 1MB again and will outbid spam.
Miners can always have out of band services, Ocean could have a service where you would send your tx to them alone for only them to get your tx fee. BTW right now you can pay out of band in LN or fiat to some big pools to accelerate your txs, doesn't that break fee estimates? doesn't that benefits big pools? Stop falling for gaslighting.
Do not try and predict the next block; that's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth… there is no single policy/node implementation. Then you'll see that it is not the block that wasn't how it should be according to prediction; it is only yourself.
Bitcoin needs to have more node implementations, Core has a way too big market share, same for mining, its centralized. Right now core can put a SF, and 3 or 4 pools just activate it because they mostly don't care what SFs do, if Core looses the biggest market share, miners have to actively pick a node implementation. 1-Decentralize node implementations, 2-Decentralize mining. 3-Reject SFs, with each SF the attack surface only increases. Bitcoin doesn't need new toys, it needs stability and merchant/real world adoption, adoption is not failing because of lack of features, merchants and normies don't care about Defi or NFTS, Bitcoin already has what it needs to be used as money. We don't need distractions with Defi features, Bitcoin needs to stop, and people must focus on the ground work.
