This afternoon’s hunt was pretty magical. I watched in real time as the fall forest was transformed into a winter wonderland. Each tree branch was dusted with fresh snow leaving only a few fall coloured leaves behind. I was just in awe as the fluffy snowflakes fell from above creating a picture perfect canvas. image

We are getting 4-5 inches in the next 48hr. We will be setting up an army tent in that on Saturday. I’ll be cursing my life initially but once we are set up and the wood stove is set up, we should have some good days out. One of our crew took a small buck today and used up his tag. So we will have a camp support guy who can help recover animals if we down something, and have a fire on much of the time. image

Yes no doubt, tracking will be easier as well. The last two years I have killed deer on dry bare ground. One I’m lucky I found it, even though it only went 30 yards, there was zero blood trail. The other didn’t move 2 inches. Those rechargeable heat packs and vest are still on my wish list. I’ll get them later when sats aren’t so cheap lol.

Good call!! That reminds of myself last year when I only bought 2 new winter tires instead of 4 so I could stack more. That’s something that I would have never done and I’m still shocked I did it but what I would have paid for the other two tires I matched with buying super cheap sats last October. I did buy the other 2 matching this year and I have all those extra sats I would have otherwise missed out on last year. Maybe add them to your Christmas list so you can stack harder! Having a blood trail is nice for sure or at least a couple people to help you look. It’s always a rush when you discover where it ended up and see it up close.
