It's a cool idea, but I think the biggest thing that leads to piracy is not that people don't want to pay for stuff, it's friction.
I think another model should be tested potentially alongside (they're not incompatible) is just a topup system. Which kind of exists already, but it could be marketed as a feature.
I don't want to make 100 $1 payments, I just want to budget for entertainment and spend as I go.
An ecash based system would work perfectly and it probably would just be buying songs and albums like using Amazon Movies.

Yes that would work well with fiat where you have the transaction costs to deal with.
Here at Fanfares we are developing ways to maximise the value of bitcoin and micropayments.
No need to fill a custodial wallet and remember to come back to it later.
Just pay for what you want. Nothing more.
Even a NWC based solution with a built in budget/spending tracker would work.
