The contents of the blockchain overwhelmingly reflect the default mempool policies set within Bitcoin Core. This is an obvious fact. The pretence otherwise is simply due to Core developers not wanting to have any responsibility in the matter. Which is entirely understandable, but lying to justify this is continuing to destroy trust.

Perhaps submit a BIP to core proposing to remove defaults. The config is blank but gives a detailed explanation of what each option is for. This would require every new node runner to actually think and make decisions about what they want to relay. I’m sure it would be shot down but it would be enlightening to hear the arguments against it.
