Looks to me like he's at a public event. Regardless, if he didn't touch anyone, and others touched him, he absolutely has a right to defend himself - lethally. And nothing else matters in the slightest. Not what he said, not what he looks like, nothing.

Christ, I'd rather do just about anything before escalating to killing another human being. I'd say any excuse I can come up with to avoid escalating to attacking or killing someone matters very, very much, especially a security or police officer.
Also, clearly it's not "public" in the sense that anyone can show up and shout whatever they want. It looks like a closed meeting for certain members of the press and other allowed individuals. Clearly they decided that he would no longer be considered an allowed individual.
