Christ, I'd rather do just about anything before escalating to killing another human being. I'd say any excuse I can come up with to avoid escalating to attacking or killing someone matters very, very much, especially a security or police officer. Also, clearly it's not "public" in the sense that anyone can show up and shout whatever they want. It looks like a closed meeting for certain members of the press and other allowed individuals.
