This is just a modem, no wifi, no bullshit. Just a nice but stupid modem.
Stop using your ISP gateway. Take back control of your internet.
Plug your incoming internet cable into this and your WAN ethernet line out.

wireguard everything
Protectli Vault fw4b
This is a four port firewall router plus an auxiliary wifi interface
This device runs FOSS OPNsense firewall software with everything essential to protect your home network
Plug your WAN ethernet into the WAN port. Run your LAN ethernet out
You can decide what comes in and out, separate devices on the network and so much more.
Feee Open Source Software runs on this dedicated micro computer to control your internet flow.
This is bad ass hardware and Protectli has been rock solid customer support.

GliNet Flint 1800 WiFi router
This sleek piece of hardware is the ultimate wifi router
Take complete control of your home internet with the web based GUI
This has four ports and four separate wifi networks each with own password protection

Too many features to list
Plug the LAN ethernet into the LAN port on this wifi router

Ronindojo Tanto bitcoin full node

This is the ultimate FOSS plug and play bitcoin full node in the game

Pair with your Ronindojo Tanto
full node for complete sovereign transactions on the go

i chose to connect the Pixel6 running Samourai Wallet to the unique wifi network of the Proctli Vault to completely separate it from the wifi networks of the GliNet.
with the latest Ronindojo updates Sparrow Wallet can connect over LAN to the Tanto for even snappier Fulcrum response time in the wallet
I like to use each wifi network to pool together similar devices. Put bitcoin things on one network, your work on another, the wife on one, the kids and tv shit etc on another, the guests canβt access your shit this way.
Plus with your computer command station set up properly like this you can shut off any device from the network with the click of a button.
Now is the time to take back control of your internet. Build a private home network that is representative of the value of what you hold. Ensure you can always transact without censorship.
Use Freedom Tech to your advantage.
I've got a lot of work to do on my home network and setup. Lots of good info here.

Aaand bookmarked! π Thank you!
Do you use ooenwrt or just the default firmware?
Do you let it come preinstalled with coreboot?
Yes
Default, many configurations available
Read the default is based on an old oprnwrt build. I guess you aren't putting it facing the internet but it might be worth looking into updating it
This hardware can be arranged many ways and can increase in complexity as knowledge grows
the wifi network on the Protectli has a unique feature of being invisible to devices when searching for wifi networks
you only know the network exists if you can type in the unique wifi network name
Any WiFi extenders you would recommend for this setup?
I think this feature is available on many routers. If you live in a densely populated area with a lot of WiFi networks around, no problem. If there are not a lot of networks around, it might raise suspicion, so you may want to have a dummy network that is visible.
This is a wealth of information. Thank you!
Based thread. Cheers!
