Connecting own node should be easy, if you feel ok with entering your rpc username and password. I’ll ask around and see if there are other ways that don’t include that approach. I honestly don’t know. #asknostr

I have a fresh sat-free node just for testing and having fun with things like this! Im pretty sure you could use electrum to make those calls without opening up RPC

You would still need electrum to talk to the RPC. But going through electrum is the face interface for external programs
