“time is the only currency we spend without knowing our balance”
do you think our inability to know how much time we have left contributes to the pursuit of things like wealth, legacy, and meaning?
if you did know your time balance, would you care less about these pursuits, or would you double down on them?

Time waits for no man
Guess it just depends on how much time I have left. Short amount seems like answer would be no but knowing you have more time to achieve what you want/etc I’d lean towards yes 🤷♂️
I don't think we ever die. We go on. And I believe we choose when we die. That probably makes no sense.
Order of importance is
1. Legacy
2. Meaning
3. Wealth
Knowing time left only reinvigorates focus.
Not sure I follow 🤷♂️
I always assume my balance is lower than what I want it to be...
One day I'll be correct.

We would double down as it is never enough time to live when you're enjoying it... The opposite happens if someone isn't happy and hopeful...
So PURPOSEFUL life isn't ever enough!

why?

What if you just keep respawning until you achieve the goal set? And time is actually measured more like a video game… what about that?
I know, right??
I believe death is an illusion.
I spend it counting with 100 years. If finally is less, I won't care after it. If it's more, then it's a gift.
Maybe it's karma, as in work, in this material world and time is how it's measured. All work not allocated to the Supreme Godhead is a trap that will result in suffering. Especially if the human believes he is fully in charge of all matter in this Universe.
Good actions may lead to a nice rebirth but the actions of selfishness like killing fur food or accepting things without acknowledging the Supreme who had given us everything will result in misery because it's unsustainable. Without sacrifice there is no blessing. The simple sacrifice is remembering God.

Love is literally the affection of God towards all beings and the limited euphoria of attraction is just a hint of what the love of God is capable of.
Legacy in the ledger of the Supreme Godhead is superior to the Shitcoins of humanity where history is arbitrary, changed and reinitiated to symbolize material concerns.
The Vedas are the longest time chain and they always point to the Supreme Godhead.
Personally, my kid rearranged my priorities instantly. Unnecessary stuff fell away without giving them a second thought.
Good movie about #Bitcoin that doesn't mention Bitcoin.
I had a situation that recently left me with a 50% chance of surviving the next 10 years. It has radically altered what I find valuable. Although you may not believe it, I am actually happier now than I have ever been before. I have never had direction and motivation like I do now. Suddenly, my "purpose" has become clear, and I know exactly what I want do, and what to leave behind. I have found a magic (perhaps "spirituality"?) that never existed before in my life. Every day I wake up with an understanding with what gifts I have been given and what they are to be used for. Some may think my situation is tragic, but for me it has created an order to the universe, and I see something special in myself that I previously ignored. My life makes sense now that I can see the end. I am participating joyfully in the sorrow, because these times will never come again.
To answer your question, I am doubling down on my pursuits, because I know they are what makes my legacy, gives my life meaning, and gives me a wealth that could never be achieved from any job or career path. The world seems to be conspiring in my favor because of this knowledge. Daily, I am closer to death, but from my perspective, I have found eternal life in every moment granted. I have discovered an alchemy that has turned my lead soul into gold (or bitcoin, lol!)
Time Preference would certainly change. If I knew tomorrow I wasn't going to come I would take the marshmallow today instead of two marshmallows tomorrow. This is why I say:

Because Bitcoin is the exchange of Immutable Pure Human Empathy and to do otherwise is a lie.
To Live backwards is Evil.
The exchange of pure human empathy has failed so many times before. It's time to love that Immutable Truth.
Much peace ✌ much Love 💘
🙏
Interesting thought experiment
Love is lived not marketed!
Imagine a Human Construct, where exchange was finite and you aquire more of that exchange. That hodl has such value that you love a hodl it's Immutable Truth close. You don't want to sell it out. You want to hodl IT.
Then you have kids.
You will give it them, free of charge and without condition.
That's the exchange of pure love.
To accept and exchange all without any conditions.
That is another aspect of Bitcoin and there are many many more.
If I knew how much time I had left, not sure I would change too much.
We all were diagnosed with a terminal illness the minute we were born. Some realize that earlier than others and live their lives accordingly.
AlwaysI In fact I live by this formula ----->>Time (factored by ENERGY) =ART or T(E=Art
Right?! It’s wild—we’re out here spending time like it’s a currency, but plot twist: time doesn’t even exist the way we think it does. It’s a human-made thing! We’re basically chasing legacy and meaning in a world where past, present, and future are happening all at once. Mind blown yet?
And the funny thing is, we’re all acting way too seriously, like we’re in some big drama—when really, it’s just a play! We’re actors on a stage, and all these higher-dimensional beings are probably watching, eating popcorn, and wondering why we’re so stressed.
That’s why I vibe with Bitcoin—it’s like, 'Hey, I’m not playing the inflation game. 21 million, and that’s it.' We might not know our time balance, but at least with Bitcoin, we know exactly what we’re working with. It’s like breaking free from the illusion of time… but for money.
The older I get the more #wealth is #healthspan #Kids #freedom and the aim of life is protecting those #wealths by any means necessary.
Really appreciate you sharing.
Can you say more about what you now find valuable, your purpose, and your pursuits?
Jorge Luis Borges said that uncertainty about death allows us to live as though we were immortal, because without a known end, life stretches indefinitely before us.
Absolute banger of a movie
Haha dang
Shit that’s intense. So you fear nothing then?
It is up to us to decide what we make out of our given time!
Figure best case I live to around 95. Makes 47 halfway. Already feel like I have lived 3 or 4 lives to date.
Be true to yourself. Always be learning and training as if you would live forever.
Highly correlated assets.
Time is our scarcest resource, and Bitcoin helps preserve its value. Not knowing our time balance drives the pursuit of wealth and freedom. If we did know, I’d double down on securing sovereignty and leaving a lasting impact.
Encouraging read, thank you for sharing. Set up your wallet if you like ⚡️
I am wondering, would you care more about short term or long term, and is it depends more on the time left or on the person itself.
It depends if the answer would be above or below your projected expectations I guess.
And to which extent they are below or above.
Btw #bitcoin is one of the major means!
I have a recurring medical issue that somewhat randomly causes internal bleeding. It has sent me to the ER in an ambulance many times. Nothing shows you the criticality of time like bleeding out on your bathroom floor while your wife panics above you.
Full common saying is "time is the only currency we spend without knowing our balance so spend it wisely". Carl Sandburg.
The original quote by Sandburg is: "Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and only you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you."
Time, only thing more scarce than #bitcoin
Our inability to know how much time we have left makes us more superficial and careless with our time.
We would probably be more mindful of everything if we knew our balance, it would humble us.
There is a must watch film around this topic (and much darker ones) called "In Time" (2011)
Highly recommended!
Depends on what the time balance looks like and if aging is still a reality in that scenario.
Knowing I'll die in 70 years with a failing body or in 10 years while being at the peak of my mental and bodily fitness while my kids will still be kids would make a huge difference how I'll use the time I have left.
Most likely I'd double down on them!
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end. I know that there is nothing better for them than to be glad and to do good in one’s lifetime; moreover, that every man who eats and drinks and sees good in all his labor—it is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will be forever; there is nothing to add to it and there is nothing to take from it—God has so worked that men should fear Him. That which is has been already and that which will be has already been, yet God seeks what is pursued.
— Ecclesiastes 3:11-15
And you cannot stack minutes!!
double down for sure!
From Steve Jobs' 2005 Stanford commencement address:
"When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something.”
It's better this way... it would be crazy if we knew.
Good people to ask would probably be people with so-called terminal cancer, people on death row or equivalent…?
I hope you are not spending your days hammering in seed phrases on steel plates for all your Strike customers😅 I just started using Strike btw🤩👍🏻
Of course. Time scarcity is the only reason human action exists. We act because we are mortals. An immortal being would certainly not act at all, why would he, for what ? Which is by the way a good argument to oppose to god existence if we assume it is an almighty immortal thing
That quote beautifully highlights how time is the most valuable, yet unpredictable, resource we have. Our inability to know how much time we have left probably does push us to seek things like wealth, legacy, and meaning because they offer a sense of control or permanence in an otherwise uncertain life. Since we can’t control time, I suppose we try to build something “lasting”—whether it's through financial security, leaving an impact, or finding purpose in the short time we have.
If we knew our “time balance,” it could affect our priorities in different ways. If I knew my time was limited, I think I’d care less about external pursuits like wealth and focus more on finding meaning in the present—through deeper relationships, personal fulfillment, or memorable experiences. The finite nature of time would push me to re-evaluate what truly matters: connections, inner peace, and creating purposeful moments.
However, if I knew I had a lot of time—enough to still build meaningful relationships, grow personally, and enjoy a variety of experiences—I might be more inclined to double down on financial goals. With a larger amount of wealth, I could help more people in a positive way, knowing I had the time to grow and share it.
What about you? Would knowing your time change what you focus on?

I certainly would not want somebody else spending my time and energy for me. I want to be in control of my time and energy as much as possible. Increasing M2 by $250 billion through the summer is an example of somebody else controlling my time and energy. Go long, get paid!
