I've seen some opinions that you shouldn't give data up if you don't want it intentionally leaked. I think that's bullshit, especially when it's something like a Nostr relay that is quite large in the space and well known. It was unprofessional and I also don't want anything to do with their products after that. You can't have a society without some level of decency and respect for others, even if you don't like them. Imagine if these people came to my hospital and I posted their medical information in a note? Would it be gaslighting to say they shouldn't have given it to me? Yes. Even if the information would have been public in a legal context (maybe), that doesn't make it okay. My trust and respect was violated. I figure he doesn't give a fuck and that's fine. Best of luck

Agree. This behavior reflects poorly on him professionally. Can't say I'm surprised he's looking for a new day job right now. That kind of thing is not welcome here.

No, and this is why. It's arguably worse to trust some relay-running rando with your data than a corporation that at least has a policy and some degree of accountability... but many people do. Use Tor, use a VPN. Taking one's threat model into account, you are responsible for your own privacy... ...but that doesn't make it any less of a betrayal when a developer unnecessarily doxxes someone.
