Does anyone else have the urge to design/own a car that's made to be repaired, and rarely needs it?
How about something that's in alignment with Rudolf Diesel and Henry Ford's idea of a vehicle a farmer could fuel?

I've been (mentally) planning the idea of a kit car that is "basic transportation", instead of a Morgan or Lambo look-alike, with the goal that it's all repairable, and a template for custom gagetry of the owner's choosing.
It's entirely possible. I'd love to see it happen. Maybe I can get the ball rolling in a few years after I clear some other hurdles.

Mk4 TDI is the closest you’ll find. They last forever, get 40+ mpg, can run on vegetable oil and bio diesel and are almost all analogue. Easily fixable yourself. Pleasure to drive even.
They’re the best 2wd vehicles ever made and it’s not even close.
My overall goal is to own a mid 2000's Toyota Corolla/Camry again. I used to have one but I regrettably sold it. At the very least Toyota rarely have major engine issues, at least according to the few shops I spoke to when researching my car.
I'm loving my 1990. People keep asking if I want to sell it. I think it's only going to be inherited. 🤣
