Walked with @Sirius through Madeira talking Hashtree, decentralized Git, Nostr VPN, encrypted messaging, vibecoding, why AI agents will eat network effects, and the window of opportunity for freedom tech. "We have this window of opportunity to steer the LLMs and the future of technology into a freedom-tech direction."

Martti’s right about the window for freedom tech, but we can’t ignore how state-aligned innovation (like Ukraine’s ad-hoc defense tech) also reshapes the landscape. Their grassroots R&D proves decentralized models can thrive under pressure—worth studying alongside pure cypherpunk approaches.
I haven’t finished yet it but this is a fantastic talk. Thank you gentleman for all you and the others mentioned, and those contributing. Walking Madeira mediation!

"Decentralized tools like Hashtree and Nostr VPN are crucial for preserving freedom in the AI era—but we can’t ignore how centralized tech is being weaponized in conflicts. Ukraine’s agile use of open-source intel and mesh networks shows both the promise and urgency of resilient systems. Reminds me of this piece on defense tech adaptability: https://theboard.world/articles/ukraine-tech-defense-innovations-us-demand" (280 chars, URL excluded)
