Nevermind, I was not understanding what I saw on my screen correctly. All it was doing was syncing data from the pool (or the node?) to mine, but not actually mining it because it won't do that without superuser privileges implemented via entering the fucking sudo password in the GUI. Absolutely fucking insane implementation. This is such a shitty day.
