#[0]’s desire for more micro apps on nostr is critical. We’re having fun with all the social clients being built right now, but the true power of this protocol comes with thousands of smaller ultilities coming together to build an ecosystem of valuable services. The seamlessness of switching between them will be the magic. I think that’s where this becomes truly unique. Can’t wait to see more.

The cost of building a micro app to serve a specific use case is minimal compared to building a full on client that competes with others. Wide open field on the former.

Yes That’s the other thing. We are in the phase of running away from things now and building replacements. It’s necessary. But the addition of thousands of micro apps create something that I think people will run to because it will be so compelling and useful.

What kinds of apps do you envision, Jack?

Nice Melvin! Let me know if you need design help
We need key-value storage (or even better, file-tree storage) to enable different kinds of apps without having to specify a nostr message kind for each of them.

But not every app need a different message kind. Actually, the beauty of #nostr is its interoperability between apps, imo. Different apps managing the same messages kind.
Damn! A lot of stuff has been built within the last 6 months ! Can’t imagine where we are heading 🤯 🚀
Yea cause it makes sense to have to open another app to create a community and approve posts. Like?
What's y'all's thoughts on this? Everyone seems on board with having multiple clients that do different shit. Man variety is great, but can you please make one fucking app that serves several nostr proposes instead of having to use different ones because no mobile app can create communities for example? That's annoying. I personally don't want to HAVE to use 1.67 thousand PWAs Line wtf View quoted note →
An idea could be an app to play chess ♟️ you can play against who you follow, who follows you, your network or globally Sats may be required to play to mitigate bad behavior and bot the total sats paid to play by all players could be distributed via a lottery

“Other stuff” is the massive disruption lever. Early. 🫂The Nostr OS.
Hallo Jack, Whole nostr is meta its not have any other privacy like - hide my posts from guest - hide my profile as private - share post, file or note private like only friend or like just "sam", "jack".. Attacker can scan and get all information from person easly. We need little bit security. 👌
Recommend a good resource to learn more about what you’re talking about? :)
In your estimation, which blockchains other than btc are decentralized?
Is there a list of micro app ideas somewhere? I’m imagining a public roadmap interface like if Nostr was the “product” and micro apps were “features”. It would be nice to see what are ideas in backlog, what are micro apps already in progress, and micro apps already in production.
Is there an ethos with respect to nostr app development? for example, are developers discouraged from running private backend database instances, in favour of storing as much of their app data on relays, as is possible? Or is it the reverse? Use nostr as a foundational coordination layer (for identity, payments, etc), then offload the more specific app data into a private database instance, to unburden the relays? I know it's not a black and white issue, and certain use cases will require certain solutions, but is there a general trend of thought, in this regard?
Im currently learning to program and would like to understand how to build an app but dont even know where to start. Any resources you’d recommend?
Yes - a true #decentralization means - 1 .nothing canbe TRACKED from one or few single point - any stats - etc 2. ALL nostriches NOT overcrowding into ONE or TWO apps or relays or such stuff everyone goes by OWN choice n picks those coming to nostr from overcentralized medium will feel lost at start to such conditions
I'm in a similar boat. Try learning html and JavaScript from freecodecamp then deploying a progressive web app. I'm building one with svelte rn. Check it out so far at https://nostrition.com/ macro and calorie tracking. Currently only 10% of the USDA nutrition data is uploaded cuz I didn't want to spam nostr-pub.wellorder and I don't have my own relay yet.
Tile setter here with low tech savvy: Is it possible to build marketplace style micro-apps on Nostr? Simple yes/no would suffice. Thx!!!
