Pretty much everyone knows that @Kajoozie Maflingo and I are from Louisiana. Louisiana has notoriously bad roads. It's so bad that people from the surrounding states constantly make jokes about it. A handful of years ago we had a tar patch on a city loop get so hot that when a car drove over it, a bubble popped and cracked the axle on the car. The folks survived the ensuing car crash but it caused a 5 car pile up.
This is why we need more bureaucrats checking each other's work and approving the quality of said road. It's not wasteful to have countless directors, managers, and supervisors signing off on the tiniest decisions if it ensures premium quality road.
Imagine going on a normal drive with your family and children in the car sleeping then the ride turns into a rollercoaster and you lose part of your bumper. What's the next move? Sue the city for tax dollars?

Holy shit that is as funny is as it is negligent! And when someone dies the peasants have to pay property taxes on their houses to compensate the victims.
