As far as homesteading goes my favorite adventure has been these turkeys. I waited a long time to add them bc I heard so many terrible things. Like ‘they’re stupid’ and ‘too loud’. I wasn’t sure what I was getting in to so I went in with intentions to butcher at Thanksgiving should it not have work out. I hand raised and have been enjoying them so much! They are just like feathered dogs. They are so friendly. They are smart and protective. I’m glad they’re here.
There were four, but I gave my cattle dog too much freedom and now there are 3. We did dispatch and process that one as the dog was only in it for the chase. But, I love these guys too much to eat them now, so they’ll stay and we’ll adjust our infrastructure (again 🙄). Today they’re “helping” re-bed the duck coop for winter.
