And we wonder why people are so fucked up, people building apps just want you to be hopelessly addicted so they can make more money from ads. It’s hard to find design books on optimizing human well-being. Why does our relationship with computers have to be framed around getting users hooked on crack? It’s not. We have the same mechanics at play. You either tow in line or make apps nobody uses.
I don't believe that. Which app developers are trying to keep their users hooked in an unhealthy manner? I'd bet next to zero of them as they all seem to understand the issues that social media has done to all of us over the years.

I wrote a long form post about what we can do. But ultimately, as long as there are interesting people saying interesting things there nothing more we can do.

as a simple pleb internet user, I really enjoy2 the scrolling and like count ux, it makes nostr feel like a place I prefer as an alternative to other options I think there is a difference in providing some "addictive" qualities to enhance experience vs using it to drive users for data selling
