The future is great, but sometimes I wish I were back in time.
Yep.
A world away from today. Love these classic videos.
My grandfather lived in this world, I'd like to understand it better.
They'd but gutted what a mess we made of the streets and roads.
I often think this, seeing poorly maintained roads, overgrown gardens/public spaces etc. We get the internet, but our material world looks shitter.
1903 dudes prob turning in their graves seeing how messy everything is.
Also, all the "street furniture" telling you what you can and cannot do.
We've gained so much, we've lost so much.

not a hijab in sight....
Thank god we don't live in that dystopia now
Thats got nothing to do with it. It was 2 world wars, post-war prefab culture & fiat fast capital. We have no one to blame but ourselves (as compfortable as it is to blame others)
Bonkers as well that they didnt have planning laws
we are trying to fix it by complaining about all the foreigners and the politicians who never listen when they keep getting told to stop immigration
Yes, that didn't happen until 1909:

Not a smartphone in sight!
Just kills human creativity and ownership. All the lovely places we have left were all built before planning laws existed.
