I studied marketing at university and had no formal CS education. Outside of a high school class, I didn’t write my first real line of code until 2020, in my mid-20s. I started with a basic Python course on Udemy, because I wanted to contribute to the Einundzwanzig Telegram bot. Fast forward four years: I now earn a living by writing code. The demand for developers in the Bitcoin space is huge. Thanks to organizations like OpenSats and the Human Rights Foundation, it’s even possible to make a living building free and open source software. You don’t need permission. You can just build things. With resources available online for free getting started is easier than ever. AI can help a lot too (if used correctly and in moderation). So LFG! If you decide to try it, make sure to let me know and if you are looking for a project to contribute to, make sure to checkout Cashu ;) image

Awesome journey! 💪🏻
With years of study you can succeed. You have to spend a lot of time learning before you earn money with code. You have to have time. Hours and hours to study and study and study and write code. It takes hours and hours a day. You don't have to have a Fiat job of 8 hours a day and you don't have to have a family to follow. It's not that simple 🤷‍♂️
I think wifi rugged me, so here is my reply again: I agree that it takes dedication. But I myself am a husband and a farther. So I can be considered proof that it certainly is possible
Wifi rugged me, so here is my reply again: The ecosystem is big enough for you to find a project in your language of choice. Cashu is mostly Js/Ts, Rust and Python, but there are many other implementations in different languages. I personally recommend to learn some TypeScript because most projects will at least have some frontend based on HTML and Js/TS
Agree Coding has never been easier to learn and this trend will accelerate.

I feel like if the goal is to ship freedom tech before shit really hits the fan, why not keep user facing design simple and spend what little resources and time we have left on ideation and functionality. This also bodes well for project maintenance. Most of the time I’m scrambling to orient myself in nostr apps and end up scatterbrained by nonsense. Fancy languages aren’t necessarily better

I would be very happy to get more engaged in nostr. I would appreciate some guidance and tips etc. You post is incredibly inspiring!
