The older I get, the more I think that the Amish have it right. They are among the happiest and healthiest in every survey, year after year.
You can call it a commune, but I grow more and more interested in teaming up with other Christian families and purchasing a large swath of land and raising my family away from all the noise.
Let kids be kids again. Why not normalize community again and get away from the moral relativism that pollutes the mind.
Be healthy, be creative, be productive. Be helpful. Care for your neighbor, not out of obligation, but because at the end of the day, all we really have is each other. Ask anyone that has survived a natural disaster or war zone.
We're communal creatures. Wealth, Status and titles become utterly meaningless when it hits the fan.
To survive, we need each other.

As a savage libertarian I agree with you and would call it a commune, and that's ok. Too libertarians forget that voluntarily organized communities is compatible with living in a free society.
Letting people collect naturally into groups they like is preferable to forcing them into groups based on geography.

In many ways the Amish are great but there is a dark side to the Amish too. I say this as someone raised Mennonite which is a few degrees removed from Amish.

Someone told me once that children have a light. Everyone sees that light.
Some see it and want to share in it. Some people see it and want to steal it.
We're living in a time of spiritual misery, and there is no limit to those that have nothing but darkness inside of them. They are after the children's light. Destroying that light gives their darkness joy.
It defines the woke culture. It's angry and envious movement.

They don't appear to be asking the outside world for anything. They work and provide for each other the things they need. No more, no less. They sell the surplus and it's some of the best food and craftsmanship money can buy.

The Amish are happy because they live sheltered lives, sheltered by 'English' society as they call us normies.
They don't have to worry about any of the Big Things in Life like defending the country or creating a stable currency, because it's being done for them.

Yeah orthodox jews are a worry, natives do occasionally serve afaik. The rest of the population do their part afaik but then again I'm not in military circles.
6% of the population has served. That leaves 94% of the population that lives their lives through the protection of others.

True that, but the 94% are not religiously opposed. They found other careers. If need be, the 94% can be conscripted in no time.

It's interesting that conscientious objection is a problem but not cowardice or those that look down on military service.

The church can be very heavy handed. If you don’t toe the line you will be shunned. The church bishops exercise a tremendous amount of power over the rest of the people. Not necessarily the most ‘free’ environment.
