I always keep one car with a standard transmission in the stable. When you manually shift, you are part of the experience. Otherwise, your just along for the ride.
Many manufacturers are no longer producing cars with a manual shift. With electrification, CVT transmissions, and autopilot, this will all but disappear from the retail market. At least racing will keep it alive.
Aside from 4, 5 , and 6 speed on the floor, I haven't seen a three on the tree in over 30 years and those were 20 years old at the time.

I have found CVT to be the worst of them all. Especially Subaru's CVT. Not very good.
Yeah they are crap, but theoretically you can go as fast in reverse as you can an drive. The 2013 Nissan's with CVT's frequently failed before reaching 100,000 miles.
