I like to think bip-110 is as much a “fuck you i won’t do what core tells me” as it is about the actual changes. It bip-110 gets more people running nodes and understanding how they want their node relaying transactions, I’d say it will be successful.

What people forget is that Taproot did not cause this. Data can already be stored in standard P2WSH using OP_POP.

This however requires multiple UTXO spends. If anything, Taproot prevents the UTXO bloat that this would cause. There’s also the option of paying to bare multisigs.

Well, I had designed a swap protocol that looked exactly like a normal payment using Taproot except in the case of the hash-lock path.

There’s alot of information to digest and fully understand for the average pleb, me.

The taproot regret is a great example why you just need to stack sats about most of this stuff. If ya don’t know the deep tech details, then you’re left trusting the tech voices whose proof of work you respect and none of them can tell the future so hang tight and see what shakes out. IMHO
