The nice thing about a sword is that it is a nice thing to display until you need something for combat.

This comes across as very European. Sword is nice for display. Firearm is nicer.
The sword has a different meaning. Especially if the sword is hand forged while the gun has been machine manufacturered.
The nice thing about a snub nose .38 is that it's easy to about displaying until it's too late for your target to do anything about it.
