Maybe one of the reasons it feels so different here is that the people most attracted to a decentralized network like Nostr (and Bitcoin) are genuinely more curious and open, because they had to do the work to understand what centralization leads to. Pura Vida my friends! It’s good to be with you.

True and the vibe here is much more pleasant than on any other network I know. PV💜
NOSTR is where the Orange Pill resides, a resounding affirmation in the spirit of the nietzschean YES!!! It stands in stark contrast to Twitter, where the Black Pill, a home for negativity and defeatism, has taken root; the NO!!! of ressentiment.
Feels like the Internet in the dialup days. Curious people figuring out how things work. There for learning, and information, helping. Then sharing these new skills and information with others. Seemed like all that was lost somewhere along the way. But now it’s back.
💯💯💯 Important distinction. You know something is cool, when people use it because they want it, and not because they have to!
i guess it's always hard to tell if curiosity + openness to experience opens eyes or if they are the behaviors of those with their eyes open already probably a little of both
Nostr feels like the next best thing when there are no Bitcoin meetups or conferences going on.
😁 - same fold..approximately 34…..just more people awakening to the rate of technological advancement - and it’s opposing force in the manipulation of money, coercion, and control in the name of “saving” people - but really enslaving them.
My conviction that Bitcoin is both our only hope and inevitable couldn’t be higher as the debt system unravels. Thank you for all you do helping educate those few people with integrity and power see the only path forward to avoid the slave state. Can’t wait for fold 35! ✌🏻
100%. I think its getting easier to see the value of decentralization or more importantly the flaws of centralization. As the road gets rougher more apples fall off the back of the cart. Nostr and bitcoin are parallel paths patiently waiting for others to discover them. When you do, you wonder how you existed in that old world. Why you never saw the things and why you blindly accepted things that make no sense like paying taxes when governments can print money!! Our roads will widen and a tipping point will come. A crowd attracts a crowd.
I can’t wait until we get enough of a user base to really start seeing niche/subject specific communities start to form organically. Where my science fiction and cooking obsessed Nostr peeps at ☺️
Bitcoiners are Kierkegaard's true "Knights of Faith" - Individuals completely incomprehensible to the faithless and feckless masses of the outside world
Bitcoins are literally a different type to the general population, almost the exact opposite of the majority today perhaps due to fiat world incentives image
Tragedy of the commons? No entry fee for Twitter, so it gets ruined. Must have competence and a bit of effort for NOSTR, so we want it to stay useful?
Yeah I hope this self-selecting advantage continues. Have seen some strange behaviour in the global spam and plenty of 'plz set mi familie' zap begging from bot like profiles. Wild west revisited.
Luke has law enforcement been of *any* help with your hack? I heard every electronic device on your network was compromised? Your IBM POWER9 Talos also? Are we talking firmware hacks? IIRC you compiled every binary on your systems down to the firmware. Do you feel comfortable sharing information about what you know?
Pura Vida! Put in the work and you get clearer view, I only hope we can share this view with other people willing to see :)
You are right! I can only speak for myself: I clearly see the problems that come with centralization and that makes me curious if there is another way. There obviously is! Even though I don’t have a deep understanding of how exactly everything works - the underlying idea of getting a distributed power in everyone’s hands is what seems to be the right way! By the way - I liked your book :-)
Jeff, would love to hear your thoughts on inscriptions. Do you see any risks with photos being attached directly to the base chain, forcing node runners to download them?
