Should I sell my old MacBook (2017 MacBook Air) or keep it? I replaced the battery last year. Itβs kinda slow but itβs still good. What do you think?

Does it do what you need for it to do?
Yes, replace it
Iβve bought a new one and now Iβm wondering if itβs worth to have a personal computer and another one just for work. I think itβs too much.
It does but itβs old. I have a new one. I was thinking of keeping this old one as my personal computer and the brand new one to work only. But sometimes I think itβs too much.
Performance gains from any of the Apple silicon generations are totally worth it. Pick up a used M1 or M2 Mac air if you want to save a few sats and youβll be super happy. 16gb ram if you can afford it π€ π€ β‘οΈ
1 is enough. Stay lean.
It's getting up there in years. When I was an Apple girl, my rule of thumb was to buy top of the line and replace every 7-10 years.
Even with a new battery, older MacBooks tend to slow down from software updates and limited support.
Desktops can stretch a bit longer, MacBook Pros can last a while, but Airs usually need replacing sooner.
You could sell it or keep it as a backupβit really depends on how much you could get for it and whether it's more important to you to have a backup. Hope that helps.
Up to you entirely but I would consolidate the two laptops in to one, much easier to just have everything you need on one laptop. If you then wanted to have separation between work and personal (providing you are self employed/manage the device yourself) you could have a VM (virtual machine) running for work bits and use the laptop itself (the 'host') for personal bits. Or there may better, other ways of doing something similar.. maybe even a built in utility, or dual boot? I'm not a big MacOS guy so can't say for certain.
Install and try out Linux.

I hear Omarchy Linux works well on Macs

Install Linux Mint (coming from iOS this Linux distro will be a soft landing and it is getting traction)
You won't get much for it if you sell it but it could work well as a low-power, always-on Linux server, for example install Start 9 and host your own Bitcoin and Lightning.
Keeping the work laptop at work helps keep the work at work. Work following you home is no fun.
I have a brand new one I got. Itβs another air,2025,M4,Apple intelligence. I am enjoying it. But I think Iβll keep it for work only. Maybe itβs good to have a computer only for personal stuff. It helps me to stay organized.
BATTERY IS NOT GREAT - BUT SELL YOUR CRAPPLE AND BUY A FRAMEWORK TOUCH SCREEN LAPTOP, PUT FEDORA ON IT. UX IS SUPERIOR TO MACOS. UPGRADES ARE EASY. YA WELCOME
