I’m in agreement with good ol Ickey boi. Ian Carrol came out of nowhere and was pushed heavily by the algo’s. His last stunt was to suggest using Nostr. Suspiciously I joined to suss it out. Only to find out that Nostr is a walled garden where the main relays/mobile apps actively censor the users. Nostr effectively has no competitive edge over the mainstream social media networks as they solicit the same practices they pretend to oppose. Just like my profile says “I’m just passing through”. If anyone one wants the electric rubbish coin I have accumulated I’d be happy to send it to you before I leave. I have no need or use for it. There are far better censorship alternatives out there to stay connected socially. I’ll leave this CIA/MOSAD operation called Nostr in about a day. Have a good one, best comment gets all my accumulated electric shit coin 😁💩🤮 see ya plebs. #gm #fuckthesystem #gn #grownostr #asknostr #photo #art #censorship #btc #fuckyou #cia #mosad #psyop #introductions #zapathon image

What do you mean that Nostr is a wallet garden. It is literally the opposite. It is an open protocol. How and why do you think apps censor you? Do you have proof of this? What Nostr client do you use? Don’t have to give your Sats to me but nostr:npub10pensatlcfwktnvjjw2dtem38n6rvw8g6fv73h84cuacxn4c28eqyfn34f instead but would love to help explain and clarify anything you want before you go. Cheers 🍻

He changed his profile name too. Got confused for a second thinking that I’d misremembered who posted it. From looking at his posts and replies he is annoyed a spammer got muted on an app he wasn’t using. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Spammer was an edge case, and users have no choice. Either ban ALL "spammers" (by personal definition of app's author) or disable ALL filters The list of spammers is something I couldn't find anywhere, not make make exceptions to it, etc So app just changes my follow list without my consent Also the relays do the censoring, apparently. This just puts it in same shitty bucket as mastodon. Just bunch of fragmented isolated clusters with censorship by power tripping dorks

The issue was a guy that got into a spat with a client developer over triggering that particular developers clients spam filter, which could be toggled off by the user btw. And the guy was posting a lot of messages advertising his own client which is what triggered it. Pretty autostic nonsense really. Nostr remains one of the best uncensored abilities to speak to the world currently.

There are many client options to choose from and most don’t implement that type of spam filtering. If you don’t like the way one client implements something then use a client that better aligns with the experience you want from Nostr. Some relays may choose to implement spam filtering or censorship but many do not. Nostr is censorship resistant because notes are written to and read from multiple relays. If one relay decides to censor notes they still exist on other relays and are still visible. (This does assume that the client is configured with a set of relays that are run by different operators and you don’t use a client with a centralised cache).

^^this^^ There are also bots that look pretty real telling new users some stupid stuff and linking to suspect web sites. Users need to beware that no censor means there will be more scammers, and they will be targeting new people. Nostr is an uncontrolled space. If you are looking for cross walks you will not find many.
