I just went through this and it was not painless. I expected a "backup" to transfer more than just the installed apps. None of the App data was transferred, so I needed to resetup each app and all login and account info. The app install transfer alone saved me at least a day.

Oh, I didn't realise that was possible 🤣 I went and downloaded all my apps one by one, what a dumbass... Took me fucking aaaages! 🤣 Well, the up side to this is that wherever possible I replaced proprietary apps with FOSS alternatives. Still haven't found a good Calendar replacement though, looks like I might have to go back to google calendar as proton calendar doesn't broadcast back to my wife's calendar 😖
Try Fossify Calendar of Etas.
I use davx5 (F-droid) and nextcloud (self hosted) for calendar and contacts. Nextcloud can be run on a raspberry pi or similar. Some rpi distros have nextcloud as a one-click install (like nostr:nprofile1qqsw5t3us9xs3gmclzjm37hvk2yy6pv9t96utjjttsj794hexc5x79qpy9mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumr90p5kuem5dahxy6t5vdhkjm3wdaexwtcahy3z8.) I dont want google harvesting that data. You can share calendars with other users on your nextcloud through the web interface.
