Indeed, the best way of implementing btc onchain zaps is not using btc for onchain zaps

Anything but use the actual chain that have all these features and a 2wp... I wonder why

I really don’t know the lore behind all the side chain solutions. Space chains, drive chains, etc. I don’t understand it but I support them all lol

No need to know the lore, I don't care about the lore, I care about the hash rate and not fucking up Bitcoin even more with competing currencies when we can just compete on tech and keep the currency and pay the same miners without taking them away from Bitcoin.

I am not 100% sure, but when I create a Rootstock account in an EVM wallet they don't generate different address, so I guess it is compatible even at the address level unlike say Solana which has different addresses.
I think I read something about the derivation path being different from eth when you use a “rootstock native” wallet, but if you just add it to some multichain wallet like metamask it defaults to the same as eth. I wonder why they even bothered to deviate the “default” derivation path from eth. 🤷‍♂️

Haven't looked into it enough, but logically, there is always a chance for addresses to diverge at least if Ethereum and Rootstock decided to do different things regarding post quantum accounts, even more likely if Rootstock takes the initiative first, then Ethereum won't conform then you get discrepancy. I support Rootstock taking liberties when necessary, I appreciate the compatibility, but when necessary to do a better job especially regarding supporting light clients and stateless clients and full validation, then if Ethereum isn't doing a good job, Rootstock should lead. But to be perfectly honest, Ethereum is doing much better job than people give it credit for.
Yeah, I think it’s only an issue if you practice wallet hopping, since you can’t edit the derivation path on MetaMask for instance. Clanker said the paths are different because Rootstock devs decided to follow the convention from BIP-44, which includes the coin id on the path. Everything else just pretends to be etherum because that didn’t require updating wallets. I actually this is a good sign, seems like they value correctness over convenience, they didn’t just change things for the sake of it, unlike the whole shitcoin ecosystem…

Yes I am betting on them because they did a lot of good sense decisions that aren't for money making maxing at all.

Is this upcoming ecash fork doing the same thing as rootstock then? But rootstock does it today on the same chain and this upcoming fork will do it on a different chain? If we can use rootstock today, are there any apps for it that people can use to interact with it?

I am not sure about apps, but there is already a stable coin made there called Money On Chain and it is uses to some degree in South America. I am not aware of anyone who tried to make a Drivechain-like system on Rootstock, but rule of thumb is that anything that can be done on Ethereum or eCash can be done on Rootstock. Most things that work on Ethereum can be deployed on Rootstock. I guess Mlkut Name System will soon be a thing you could try.
