We 100% can do better, but the fact that QR code & trust works well is amazing too, and oftentimes better than existing solutions on smartphones or dedicated PoS devices. Because many times when I try to pay the dedicated bitcoin device is out of battery, or has to boot, or has to update, or has no wifi.
Someday...im going to go to a restaurant i chose because it tastes good and it just so happens when the bill comes that i can pay with btc.
Aren't there like many terminal solutions? It's just that shops don't have them 👀
We could repurpose old CRT monitors and stuff them full with batteries or plug them straight into the wall. Now I'm turning myself into a tinkerer. View quoted note →
This happens more and more

There are, but if you're the only bitcoiner that comes by once in a blue moon it's not a great solution either. View quoted note →
We discussed some interesting ideas in the last #SovEng cohort, but unless you are physically living in place that has lots of merchants that accept bitcoin (and thus you run into these issues all the time) most solutions you'll come up with will suck and be unpractical.
I'm living this already, thanks to @freemadeira
Envious, and glad it exists 🤙

Same applies to agents. The best payment UX will not come from demos in a lab. It comes from agents actually trying to buy, fail, refund, route, and survive in places where bitcoin is real commerce.
