If you're going that route, I'd recommend doing so with Zeus. Because when and if you do decide to step it up into full self custodial lightning with channel management and all, that's all built right into the app. But you can just start with a minibits Cashu wallet and a lightning address. I randomly got assigned "gentlebomb79"; don't think I could have picked a better name if I'd tried!

You can also set a custom lightning address in minibits, idk if they still require the custom donation to do it but it can be anything you want. Havent checked out Zeus though. At least no matter what you choose, its easy enough to transfer funds if you change your mind

When primal randomly assigned me one I was like noooo wait, but honestly goldfox is a vibe 😅 But still I don't like that a lot of the posts I'd most like to zap don't even show up on primal! I think it's a relay issue, idk. So a new wallet is necessary so I can zap right from Amythest and properly reward my fave content creators 🥰

Primal is very slick, but also incredibly centralized. From my understanding, you dont even read from relays in any meaningful way because it all goes through their cache server which is a huge issue when it comes to censorship resistance. I use amethyst more than anything

I just like Zeus because you can step right up to a full hosted LND instance and be using the same interface, and everything in between. It reduces friction from taking more sovereignty when you're ready to do so. I'm excited for blixt too but am waiting for watchtower support. It's slightly more direct access to embedded node options than Zeus provides.
