Hiking the canyon is much cheaper than rafting it. Hard part is getting a permit.
I would NOT recommend the single day down and up hikes...
Go spend 7-14 days in the bottom of the canyon moving from campsite to campsite.
It's a life changer!
Also do Zion National Park if you haven't hiked that.
