I'm looking for advice on a good 'signing device' / 'hardware wallet' (whatever you want to call it).
I've heard good things about the nostr:nprofile1qqsfy229w70e8lgtxavlz9t78k06yrel6fxyhreteafqet8kfxhhwmg2c6av2 #jade and the nostr:nprofile1qqs9v9et20mnqagtgrnrc5qmzcrgmkt2y3087p23vawqlmyczlhfdcqpzpmhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejszxmhwden5te0vejk2ern9ehx7um5wghxyctwvshhq6trwvq3vamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwdehhxarj9e3xzmnyrwt363 #coldcard.
Are there any other good recommendations before I make my purchases?

Save yourself a bunch of money and get a seedsigner. Or get a coin kite and be prepared to spend $200 every 2-3 years when a new release causes the one you have to stop receiving updates.
Nice! I'll be having a look at this, for sure! 👍🏼
Ideally, you buy the parts and build it yourself. No one needs to know what you’re building or that you have a signing device. If that’s not for you, then there’s pleb run stores that sell the seedsigner. I pulled this list from seedsigner’s website.
SEEDSIGNER KITS / ASSEMBLED SIGNERS:
– EU/UK: GoBrrr, VULCAN, DIYNodes, BitcoinBrabant, Bitsaga
– USA/Canada: BTC Hardware Solutions (by project leader/creator)
– Brazil: StackBit
– Australia: HansMade
If you have any questions, let me know. I’ve been an advocate for the project since its release.
I will say if you plan to spend a lot on-chain and think you’ll be doing so quite often, then you might be better off with a device that holds the keys within the device and has a secure element.
I use Lightning for all my daily, weekly, monthly spending and receiving of sats. No hardware signer for that.
For cold wallets, the seedsigner is my recommendation. I can’t make a 2nd recommendation, but if I had to look into another device, it would be the BitBox.
I already have a Jade and ColdCard Mk3 and a Krux. They’ve been collecting dust for years.
You might also notice the seedsigner has a fantastic user base, too. We’re all tinkerers, and we love to help others.
I could type all day about it.
ssedsigner ftw
Trezor for hardware wallet, not sure about signer device
As far as I can tell, a signing device is the same thing as a hardware wallet, being that the device is used to sign transactions.
How is the #trezor treating you? I've heard a mixed bag of reviews for this, everything from "it's the best device out there" to "trezor should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell".
🤔
I guess the screens purportedly have a high failure rate, but so far mine has been easy to use and worked fine 🤙
