Fascism, communism, socialism, liberalism... Really anything aside from stewarding the society and resources so as to maximize harmony and prosperity so that future generations will continue to prosper. The trick is, incentivizing this does sort of rely on dynastic rule of some sort. What people forget is that 80 years prior to the American revolution, the Dutch effectively took over the UK and undermined monarchy with the establishment of the bank of England. Things had already gone downhill a bit after the Norman invasion, but that really was the final nail. The revolution wasn't really against monarchy; it happened because monarchy had ceased to be the governing system.
