Ok, it is settled, and it wasn't even close! It will be named HAMSTR. Thanks to all the ostriches for their input and zaps! #ask nostr #hamradio

Alright #hamradio and #nostr users. As some of you know, I have been developing a NOSTR over ham radio client and server application with the hopes of a globally distributed . I am releasing an early alpha by the end of the month god willing. Now I need a name. I am currently town between 2 names and want some input from the community. The first is accurate, the 2nd is fun and plays off the name as an acronym and hits back at authoritarians in some ways. 1) HAMSTR - Decentralized NOSTR over Ham Radio This one obviously is perfect, but I am tired of the STR names... 2) COMMIE This one would have a few possible acronyms for a fun play on the COMMS, Communication and dentralized idea: Centralized Oppression Mitigated by Independent Exchanges Collaborative Open Messaging for Independent Entities Community-Organized Messaging, Media, and Information Exchange What say the nostriches? #asknostr #Amateurradio #freesom #unstoppable

Currently fx25 hf packets at 300, 600, maybe 1200 baud in great conditions. Next up will be fldigi compatibility as well for much more robust data modes and even higher speeds with error correction as well as rafio control and on the fly mode switching depending on s/n ratios. Then hopefully reticulum network interface option for lora and other radio and tcp options.
The approach is essentially in some ways like winlink. You have the gateways(my server software) You have you apps that connect to gateways(my client) In my setup, the client will only connect to the server(like a gateway). For now, the client will be via a windows, Mac, or Linux computer running a local host server and web ui. The server will connect to clients anywhere in the world, and process whatever nostr request they ask. For now, it could be requesting top trending notes, top notes from my followers, etc. As well as publish a note or reply or emoji to a relay. That's it. The client is designed only for offgrid situations. This helps keep overhead down and makes connecting to nostr possible while having no internet, and globally As you knknow, you can absolutely hut a winlink gateway thousands of miles away. I do it all the time. This is key to stopping g government control, censorship, and more Eventually I want to add zaps that use an android or ios LN wallet or other desktop LN wallet to pay the zap and then send the tx via the client to the server for processing by the server on both nostr and the lnurl. I hope thst helps?
