Has someone on #nostr played arround with the wiphone?
I just saw they have a 4G module now.. Is this the opensource dumbphone we are looking for?

Nope, but i have to look at that thing. Interesting features, #LoRa and i love arduino's anyway π
Cool but Iβm not sure Iβd go all the way to dumbphone. Is there an open source midwitphone?
Yeah i looked at their github seems not very active but it looks like a fun project...
This being a wifi only device isn't enough
I want a wifi texting device with no cameras, microphones, or speakers (which can be used as microphones with some very simple electrical treachery)
Can anyone find me one of those?
I want a phone where the first thing it says on the website is "every phone spies on you now, the difference with us is we'll sell you a phone without lying about it"
Can anyone start a phone brand like that?
Librem, pinephone
They all lie about some of the open source stuff though
"100% foss" is like 80% open source when you dig deeper
Thats why i mentioned the 4G/LTE module.. If its really hackable it should not be a problem disabling this stuff..
Imagine these things run meshtastic π
Disabling the audio should be as simple as unplugging your earbuds from the 3.5mm jack
When you need to hear something or use a microphone, you plug the earbuds back in
The fact that there's nothing like this, no modern equivalent to the original ipod touch, really shows how dedicated to spying on us the whole tech industry is - they won't even let us have devices that can be used to avoid spying, they force you to have a camera and/or microphone and/or speakers in order to have a usable wifi device
Yeah it really sucks...
At least we have nostr πͺ
Big tech will lose this whole game someday
