if you don't mind me asking, what prompted you to visit us here? always nice to see new faces nostr is small and tight, most people you will encounter are #nostronly maxis and a lot of bitcoiners, and then a little contingent of people who like to whine about how we talk a lot about bitcoin, but actually that's just primal, so beware primal's trending feed, better to find some good writers like @Lyn Alden and check out who and what engages, she often posts a lot about her life story and her current place in Cairo myself, i'm australian, living in #madeira in the atlantic, #golang programmer and trying to build a nostr relay called #realy https://realy.lol and finally solve the problem of chat on nostr, which is unfortunately quite muddled due to some funny attitudes about privacy and the non-negotiable relay architecture of nostr the main thing you need to understand about #nostr is that a lot of us are programmers building stuff for nostr, and the actual primary topic of discussion that gets the most volume here is nostr itself, and discussions around apps and proposals for protocol extensions

Had a few people telling me about it. But I am thinking it may not be the right place; I’m not a programmer.

Its just so new that the programmers building it were the first group here. Since bitcoin can be used to transfer value here, that made the connection to the bitcoin crew immediately obvious. Now they are all here. So its very heavy on that content at this moment. BUT now its spreading out past those groups to finance types, musicians, photographers, health advocates and now you : ) Hang in there for a bit. Its a bit like dropping back into the early 2000s Internet, it's all potential and possibility, but there is no company in charge, no one is censored, and you control what you see and don't. And all those programmers are accessible and sharing their challenges out in the open - they are really friendly (at their core : ) and help so may folks navigate this place with guides and other learning materials. Can't wait to see what you share!
