This doesn't makensense. That dude is an idiot.
In Soviet Russia the government pushed propaganda and did all the thinking for them. Many of them were brainwashed. It wasn't until close to the fall of Soviet Russia that people started thinking and noticing politics.
Then he says he came to his new country for the end goal that he won't have to be interested in politics. Not being interested in politics will end up the country back in communism.
You should always be interested in politics and be involved or we end up in communism.
That dude learned nothing!
Ayn is a woman (famous author) and per the quote, was interested in politics
Shes making a point about getting governments to a point where they are so small and insignificant in their scope of responsibilities, that it isnt as dire to be involved. She is arguably the most influential philosopher of the Objectivist movement.. Have you read any of her books?
I thought that's what she was trying to say but even when you make government so small and insignificant in their scope of responsibilities the responsibilities shift to the local community. So you will always need to be involved in politics even at the local community. If you don't become involved. The local community will most likely end up back to big government.
We can never be free from politics. She's daydreaming.
I have not read her books or even heard of her. I'll have to check it out sometime.
shes a pretty famous writer, ur not wrong to disagree but i recommend looking into her writings or even her interviews she is extremely intelligent, in my opinion, and you will likely find more context / explanation and thought on her part into such quotes π€

Unfortunately, as she realised on her deathbed, so long as humans exist, that day will never come.
Hence we must be willing to politik such that the parasites do not lord it over us
