What would you say is the best alternative for large communities? Discord is so successful because of the ease of invites and onboarding. Only once you're in there do you realize what a total mess it is.

True, when one reads through their announcment, they seem to go quiet a good way, to protect users privacy at best, while protecting the children and teens (which probably make up the greatest amount of users). For me not every app needs to serve for everything. When an app dedicated to gamechat enforces some moderation, this seems quiet reasonable to me.
