yeah, gold and silver are quite easy to do casting with, very low temperatures required to melt them. i think gold is about 400'C and silver like 600'C or so. doesn't require an expensive furnace.

also, you don't really have to worry about annealing or tempering them because they are both so soft at room temperature compared to other metals, where rigidity/elasticity or shock resistance may be critical

I was taking a jab on US Treasury who still value their gold at 42 bucks and oz .. who would do that ?
