I'll take this opportunity to ask a question that I'm too lazy to Google! Where is the nonce in the block? I'm guessing that it's an arbitrarily long string that is appended to the end of the block I ask because I sometimes wonder how pre-Segwit nodes can accept the witness data in the Segwit blocks. Do those old nodes see it as simply a big nonce? Or maybe I'm wrong, and those old nodes really do just take the first 1MB of each block, truncating the witness data?
