I am not a protocol engineer. I am a regular person. I have no intuitive reason to know that a profile picture is supposedly hogging resources for other people. Expecting normal users to understand that is insane. If this matters that much, it should be made clear in onboarding instead of expecting people to just know. This is beyond my personal reaction. Put yourself in the shoes of your non-technical friends. ‘3.4 MB’ means nothing to me. Not because I don’t care, but because it is outside the scope of a normal user’s reality.
