You tunnel your traffic through cloudflare so they provide DDOS protection and filtering. There are FOSS implementations that mitigate this like Anubis but it's not as powerful as using Cloudflare as a gate. Not defending them, my site doesn't use it, but if I were to be a target of DDOS I'd be toast.

Yeah thanks for the tip, I noticed that last week, life's busy so I haven't resolved it yet. My hosting server had an outage a few weeks ago and it must have broken then. I'm going to ad an i2p eepsite too when I look at the onion link.

Most content on that AWS server is boring anyway. The old internet had some variation, thanks to actual decentralization. Now it's mostly like a glorified TV shop channel.

It will be bombarded by bots until they find vulnerabilities. It is very hard to mount a defence without CloudFlare.
