called a plumber to fix a leak in our ceiling.
he arrives. $250 just to "diagnose"
turns out it's some valve thing.
easy fix.
i see him writing out a paper invoice.
i chuckle. so quaint.
i tell him "you should be using AI for that."
"what?" he says.
"yeah, you should get a mac mini and set up openclaw and automate all of this with your own personal ai agents" i say.
"huh?" he says.
clearly he's not getting it... I clarify in simple terms: "you're writing invoices by hand using paper. you're handing me a physical piece of paper for my invoice. this should all be digital. you can have your ai agents automatically generate invoices you verbally dictate into your phone via a telegram chat with your own personal ai workforce. they can handle billing too. this is just really inefficient and you're wasting time. time is money, after all."
"ok. i'm going to go fix your leak now" he says.
maybe he's finally starting to get it??
the job takes 15 minutes.
he hands me the invoice. it's $2500. plus the $250 "diagnosis."
i stare at the total.
$2750.
he looks at me and says “you’re right, time is money.”
then he adds one more line to the invoice... a discount...

You actually made it way too complicated.
Plumbers marked safe from AI
Time to be a plumber
his rate is $250/hr? holy moly?
Ahhhh. I see you're listening, but live in HCOLA.

I take ‚things that never happened‘ for 1000 dollars alex
Learning to fix your own shit is a good way to stack more sats. Probably used a couple of 2 dollar fittings, new valve, some pex, and a $60 crimper.
More important lesson: Remember the babes come for the muscles, but they stay for the skills. 🧐
That's why I offer them food and when I was drinking I was offering alcohol too.
I've called plumber twice, once (alcohol offer, wide range of beverages) - 0 pln, but this one was also late (he didn't come to first 2 appointments), that's also relevant.
Second time - no alcohol, just offer of food and I had to pay but not much :)
When I was working in peoples houses and they wanted something extra, I always told them to pay more. You want me to take out window with whole frame? Pay me 150pln.
Ofc leaving me alone and providing with something to drink and eat allowed them to have extra services ;p
what valves are in your ceiling?
and what the fuck is in your ceiling that needs a $2500 valve?
must be an aquarium, because something smells fishy
He’s a bitcoin podcaster, plumbers spot them a mile off. Invoice goes up
A lot of people have water heaters and AC units in their attic
😆😆😆
doesn't cost $2500 to replace a valve on one though. you'd get a whole new water heater for that!
Sounds a bit condescending to a guy who just charged you $2745 for something you could have learned to do yourself.
Maybe he should have been schooling you.
Maybe he has the harder asset than you 😂
No never call a plumber and pay those ridiculous prices. I start on Maple. I move over to Brae AI and then finally Google AI if the previous two didn’t fix it only one time have I had to go all the way to Google AI.
Furthermore, multiple times at various places, including a laundromat that I go to I identified through AI problems that professional plumbers had made an informed the owner who was very appreciative
As a follow up to @Walker, he should’ve used AI before calling the plumber. A fool in his bitcoin are easily separated.
The hand written invoice is part of the labor 😆
A fool and his bitcoin are easily separated
I plumb for sats
You should have consulted with your ai before calling him that's for sure.
Bru - true or not, that really put a smile on my face . Thanks 😊
Correct.
That’s awesome. 🤌
lololol

Maybe you should learn to recognize satire.

I am glad to hear it, and glad you recognized it as satire. Apparently a lot of people didn’t.

Dang good point.
Thank you for the advice.

When you got money but no brains and rely on AI and other people for basic tasks
Leave the plumber alone, he doesn't need to be made retarded with AI like you are.
The fact you can't even do your own home repairs as an adult man is pathetic.
Maybe if you weren't so reliant on AI you'd have been able to fix it yourself
The fact that you can’t recognize a joke is pathetic. Hope you have a good day bro.

I think it's a matter of the scarcity of time and how you value money. If it's worth paying so you don't spend 1-2 days finding parts and fiddling and you can afford it, some will choose it. Others like getting their hands wet!
