I suspect that aside from tube-fed political ideology, people are not as divided as it may seem. Social media rewards extremes and absolutes. It's easier, faster to say something blunt than to give it context, pretext and nuance. The platforms reward hot takes which causes the posters to respond in a certain way too. But, we know that the majority of social platform users don't actually post anything. They scroll and read and don't say anything. I think the number of sensible people far outweighs the outspoken ones. Whether or not the sensible people understand that they are being influenced by minority opinion is not clear to me. I just noticed that people tend to be nice in person and mostly reasonable unless it comes to the topic of politics (of which they hear on socials).

Nostr is pretty cool I have been using it for the past week and am very impressed with this tool and how it works. I think we need to bring regular Joe over from Twitter to Nostr to make it the "future" It's unfair to keep Nostr only to us techies with all our tech terms.
