Me: Problems discussed in this political election are unimportant in the grant scheme of things.
Teacher: So the housing crisis etc. are not important?
Me: Correct.
Teacher: That's dumb, I'm not discussing this. *Walks away*

Sounds like the teacher needs to learn something
The housing crisis is important. It's a symptom for a bigger issue. Kinda like how you feel light headed after getting stabbed multiple times and losing several pints of blood. A good strong coffee fixes light headedness, so that should take care of your stab wounds.
